JB’s Bio

Hometown: KIhei, Maui, Hawaii

Current: San Francisco, CA

Position: IT Consultant

From the islands of Hawaii, to the concrete jungles of San Francisco, JB carries a wide variety of IT experience. From working on airplanes to troubleshooting at Apple, JB has done it all. Learn more about him and how he could help you with your IT needs below!

Q: What interests you most about IT?

A: I first found out I was interested in IT in 6th grade when a friend had me join the after-school computer club. We started playing games on the gateway computers and I never looked back. I’ve worked in many different areas of IT. I worked on airplanes, for cable companies, at Apple, and now Jones IT. There’s always something new to learn and I have no plan on stopping.

Q: What is your favorite work memory from Jones IT?

A: My favorite work memory from JIT was when I planned the going away party for a coworker when I was one of the newest employees. I organized us all to go bowling and I saw how many people came out to say goodbye. We had a great time and it was the first time I felt the JIT family.

Q: What is one of your favorite things/ passions outside of work?

A: The gym. I love working out. It helps me relax and clear my mind. I’m able to reflect and work through my day when exercising. I get in my zone, think about how I can do better next time, and it feels great.

Q: Any advice for aspiring IT consultants?

A: Be yourself, and find your passion. You’ll be able to feel it. If IT is your passion, find out what motivates you. We can teach anyone anything about IT, but you can’t teach the drive you get when you are pursuing your passion. Go for it, but be coachable at the same time. There’s always something new to learn.

Q: Best advice for start-ups/small businesses looking to improve their current IT setup?

A: Develop and implement official on-boarding/off-boarding processes right away. Especially in smaller growing companies, there’s a lot to be lost and a lot to be gained by setting up these protocols early. That’s the best advice I can give.
